Say No! Art, Activism and Feminist Refusal explores creative forms of refusal as a method of political protest. In the late 1960s and 1970s, a wave of feminist activism erupted across much of the world. Women staged demonstrations, founded organisations and started movements. Say No pairs archival materials from this vital period with contemporary artworks to explore how feminist histories inform our present. Taking these intergenerational practices of refusal as a starting point, the exhibition examines how resisting gender-based oppression can effect change.
